Drug
addiction or Illicit drug use is one of the most notable problems of not only
in Bangladesh rather almost in every country of the world. Presently, there are
about 30 crore of drug abuser (drug addicts) around the world. Considering the
practical impact, drug addiction is extremely dangerous as it destroys the
youth, adolescent, mid-aged community of the society of any country throwing an
adverse on the socio-economic sector of the country. Realizing the fact, local
government of the countries as well as many organizations have come forward to
work on this in parallel. However, drug addiction is a growing concern in
Bangladesh. However, it is crucial to realize that addictions are quite curable.
It can be tackled, and normalcy can be restored in the addict’s life through a
set of proper care and rehabilitation. Although the first step to recovery
always is self-acceptance; once that is established, wide arrays of treatment
options are available even here in Bangladesh. EAD Foundation has been working
on the entire curing process of the drug addicts and raising consciousness
among all the generations of the country/society. As part of the project ‘Say
NO to Drugs’ EAD Foundation has already conducted several programs such as hosting
sports events for raising consciousness against drug among the young
generations.
